Witnesses said she “scaled the fence after removing her shoes and jumped from midspan around 4:30 [p.m.] after walking west from the New York side,” the Port Authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT tonight.

PAPD officers responding from the New Jersey side recovered her shoes, Pentangelo said.

The NYPD Harbor Patrol was searching for her as night fell.

It was the sixth GWB suicide and the fourth since April 14. For accounts of the three previous April GWB suicides: CLICK HERE

Eighteen people jumped to their deaths from the span last year (one every 20 days), in addition to 74 “interventions” in which Port Authority police talked someone down or away from the ledge.
