The hospital received the New York State Perinatal Quality Collaborative Obstetrical Improvement Project’s 2015 Quality Improvement Award. The Perinatal Quality Collaborative is an initiative of the state Department of Health that aims to provide the best and safest care for women and infants.
“We’re honored to be recognized for our dedication to high-quality care at the Neugarten Family Birth Center for our mothers and babies,” said Pamela Rhodes, chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at Northern Dutchess.
From April 2014 to October 2015, the state’s Obstetrical Improvement Project focused on identifying and treating maternal hemorrhage and hypertension – the two leading causes of maternal morbidity and mortality in New York state.
The Maternal Hemorrhage and Hypertension Initiative improved awareness, identification and treatment of maternal hemorrhage and preeclampsia, eclampsia and severe hypertension.
