MILLBROOK, N.Y. -- The Millbrook Library will host its latest “Reading With Wrigley” sessions on Thursday, Dec. 1, from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
The event will allow children in grades 1-5 the chance to practice their reading skills with Wrigley the therapy dog, who will be on hand with his owner, Miss Caroline.
The two are certified with Therapy Dogs International, and have been participating in reading programs in the area for several years.
The 15-minute sessions are designed to be fun and stress-free, but there may also be tangible benefits. Studies indicate reading to a therapy dog can increase a child’s literacy skills by up to 50 percent.
“Reading with Wrigley” is conducted every other Thursday in the library’s children's room.
Registration for the sessions is required. For more information, or to sign up, call 845-677-3611, Ext. 4.
