'Infectious Smile': Westchester County Native Dies At 54 After 5-Year ALS Battle A man who grew up in Northern Westchester known for his intellectual curiosity and love of his family has died after a battle with ALS.  Doug DeSalvo, who grew up in Peekskill and Chappaqua, died on Friday, Nov. 11 at the age of 54, according to his obituary.  Born in Tarrytown in 1968, DeSalvo attended Horace Greenley High School in Chappaqua before transferring to the Frederick Gunn School in Washington, Connecticut., his obituary said. ID Released For Man Killed When Car Leaves Road, Hits Tree In Hudson Valley Officials have released the identification of the man who died in a fatal crash in the area on Tuesday. Adrian Mayo, 35, of Waterbury, was killed after he lost control of his car around 9 a.m. on Shunpike Road near Kennels Road in town of Washington, said Capt. John Watterson with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office. After losing control, the vehicle crossed over the center pavement markings and struck a tree on the northern shoulder. Mayo, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, Watterson said. Police said unsafe speed seemed to be the primary factor in the crash. …
