School Swatting Threats: 50 NY Districts Report New Round Of Incidents
More than 50 school districts across New York reported receiving swatting threats of an active shooter.
The districts reporting the incidents on Tuesday, April 4 were located on Long Island, in Central New York, the Southern Tier, and the North Country, authorities said.
"I want to reassure parents that their children are safe at school - swatting threats are false and intended to cause panic and scare students, teachers, and families," New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement on Tuesday.

Hudson Valley Among Regions In NY That Have Been 'Infested' By Invasive Insect, Schumer Says
Parts of New York that have been infested this year with an invasive insect that puts crops at risk, US Sen. Chuck Schumer announced.
Schumer said in an announcement on Sunday, Aug. 14, that nearly every region in upstate New York has seen the invasive spotted lanternfly, and the insect could cost the state millions of dollars if it is not contained.
He said infestations and sightings have been found across different parts of the state, including the Hudson Valley, the Capital Region, Central New York, the Finger Lakes, and the Southern Tier.

Covid-19: Hudson Valley Seeing Trend Of Less Positive Cases, Lower Infection Rates
The Hudson Valley has seen relief from the post-holiday surge of new COVID-19 infections as the positivity rate of those being tested for the virus dipped closer to 20 percent.
For three straight days, the seven-day average percentage of positive test results in the Hudson Valley dipped from 22.59 percent on Sunday, Jan. 9, to 21.96 the following day, and down to 21.09 percent on Tuesday, Jan. 11, still among the highest in the state.

The final tally is in, and New York State Police troopers dished out more than 12,000 tickets and arrested nearly 150 motorists for alleged impaired driving, authorities announced.
Between Wednesday, Nov. 24, and Sunday, Nov. 28, New York State Police issued 12,975 tickets during their annual Thanksgiving holiday traffic enforcement period, down slightly from the previous year’s campaign.
