More than 175 people attended a board meeting to protest an application by an event producer to host a gun show in the Hudson Valley.
The meeting took place in Ulster County on Wednesday, June 15 in the town of Saugerties.

Despite a gun show organizer changing his mind about canceling a show on Father's Day weekend due to recent mass shootings, a Hudson Valley town is holding firm.

A man from the region is accused of physically assaulting a pregnant woman during a domestic dispute.
Ulster County resident Enrique Plaza, age 29, of Saugerties was arrested on multiple charges stemming from the altercation at a home on Livingston Street, Saugerties Police said.
Officers were called to the residence shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday, May 29, with reports of a physical domestic dispute.
Investigators determined that during the fight Plaza had pushed and slapped the victim several times, threw cooking grease on her body, and spit in her face, police said.

A Westchester native known for her love and devotion to animals died after falling while hiking at the age of 31.
Elizabeth R. Adinaro, a resident of Dutchess and Ulster counties, in Hopewell Junction and Kingston, died on Sunday, May 22.
The passionate animal lover, especially dogs, died following a fall at Bridal Veil Falls in the Platte Cove area of the Catskills while hiking, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
Adinaro, the daughter of Edward and Janet (Engel) Adinaro, was born in White Plains.

Hudson Valley Man Convicted Of Sexually Assaulting Hotel Housekeeper
A Hudson Valley man accused of sexually assaulting a housekeeper at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City has been convicted, authorities said.
On Thursday, March 31, a jury found Ulster County resident Jamel Carlton, age 36, of Saugerties, guilty of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, burglary, aggravated assault and criminal restraint, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Carlton was arrested twice on Feb. 15, 2018, in separate assaults at the hotel, authorities said.

Texas Teen Damages Vehicle In Hudson Valley 'Just For Fun,' Police Say
An 18-year-old jumped on the hood of a vehicle and smashed the windshield at an area sports complex, just for fun, police said.
The incident took place on Saturday, March 26, in Ulster County at the Cantine Memorial Sports Complex in Saugerties.
Saugerties Police arrested Tyler Battros, of San Antonio, Texas, for criminal mischief, and criminal trespass following the incident, said Chief Joseph Sinagra, of the Saugerties Police.
