4 Rescued After Sailboat Overturns On Long Island Sound Emergency responders from two counties teamed up to rescue several people after a sailboat overturned on the Long Island Sound. The incident happened around 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 Marine 7 of the Nassau County Police Department Marine Bureau Unit responded for reports of an overturned sailboat.  With the assistance of the Westchester Police Department, all four occupants were removed from the water and the sail boat was towed to shore by Town of North Hempstead Bay Constable.  The FDNY Marine Bureau was also at scene.  There were no injuries reported.

Three Rescued After Sailboating Accident In Westchester, Police Say Three were rescued from the Long Island Sound after crashing their sailboat into a rock, police in Westchester said. New Rochelle Police officers responded in Marine I to Davenport Reef on the Long Island Sound at approximately 6:44 p.m. on Monday, May 31, when a 27-foot sailboat struck a rock and took on water. Police said that the captain of the sailboat was able to navigate the boat toward the Davenport Beach Club and began capsizing approximately 100 yards off the shore. Boater Rescued By Good Samaritans From Capsized Sailboat During Storm In Hudson River A 44-year-old man who was stranded on his capsized sailboat in the Hudson River during an intense thunderstorm was rescued by two Good Samaritans. The incident took place around 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8, when the Dutchess County 911 Center received a report of a capsized sailboat on the Hudson River off the Town of Hyde Park shoreline, said Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Lt. Shawn A.
