Three Stranded In Raft On Long Island Sound Rescued
Three men who became stranded in a six-foot inflatable raft in the Long Island Sound have been rescued. Suffolk County Police were notified by the Coast Guard at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19 of an inflatable raft with three male occupants that were unable to make it back to shore. The three were fishing in the Long Island Sound, near Crane Neck Road in Setauket, when they were pulled approximately two miles offshore, Suffolk County Police said. Two Rescued After Kayak Overturns In Hudson River
The Westchester County Police Marine Unit rescued two people in the Hudson River after their kayak overturned off Irvington. A husband and wife, in their 50s, from Irvington, were clinging to the kayak when the Westchester County Police Marine Unit patrol boat arrived on scene about 3:35 p.m.Wednesday, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the department. Lost Hiker Found In Westchester
Police in Northern Westchester pulled out all the stops to track down a hiker who found himself lost in the woods. Members of the Bedford Police Department received a report at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18 from area resident Leroy Junker, who said he was lost on the trails of the Westmoreland Sanctuary. Police said that while investigating the lost man, they determined he was actually in the Arthur Butler Sanctuary, not the Westmoreland Sanctuary. Westchester 22-Year-Old Rescued After Falling From Cliff While Hiking
A 22-year-old Westchester man was rescued after falling more than 20 feet off a cliff while hiking at Nyack Beach State Park. The incident took place around 2:30 p.m. Sunday when the Tarrytown man went off a trail, fell and was knocked unconscious, said Randy Simon, spokesman for the state Parks Services. When members of the State Park Police and Rockland County Paramedic Services arrived at the popular hiking park at 698 N. Woman Hits Gas Instead Of Brake, Ends Up In Pool, Police Say
A woman who thought she was hitting the brake on her vehicle, but instead hit the gas, ended up at the bottom of a clubhouse pool, police said. The incident took place around 9 a.m. Monday in rainy conditions at the Retreat Senior Living community on Langdon Grove off Stoneleigh Avenue in Carmel, said Carmel Police Lt. John Dearman. Before temperatures began rising on Tuesday, New Rochelle police came to the rescue of a man who fell through ice on Monday afternoon, according to a Talk of the Sound report.
