Well-Known Pilot ID'd As Victim Of Fiery Fatal Crash At Air Show In Hudson Valley
A pilot killed during a fiery crash while performing in an air show in the Hudson Valley has been identified.
The incident occurred in Dutchess County around 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, on Norton Road in Red Hook.
According to the Red Hook Police Department, an initial investigation determined that due to unknown mechanical issues, the engine of a World War I Fokker D.VII caught fire, causing the plane to crash near the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome where the exhibit was taking place.

A Hudson Valley high school student who loved sports, has died at the age of 16.
Sam Lown, age 16, a longtime Dutchess County resident from the town of Red Hook, died on Tuesday, July 26, following a courageous battle with cancer, according to his obituary.
Born on April 7, 2006, in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Donald and Jennifer (Spencer) Lown.
Sam was a student at Red Hook Central School and had a "great passion" for many different sports including football, lacrosse, and basketball.

A Hudson Valley man with a warrant out for his arrest was one of two busted by New York State Police troopers with drugs and an illegal weapon during a traffic stop, officials announced.
Troopers from the Catskill barracks in Greene County stopped a 2004 Acura TSX on West Bridge Street in the Town of Catskill for violating traffic laws.
During the stop, police said that it was determined the driver, Angelo Salvatore, age 38, and his passenger, Dutchess County resident Michael Scalice, age 35, of Red Hook, were in possession of cocaine and heroin.

A 64-year-old Hudson Valley man has been arrested for allegedly raping a child, police announced.
Dutchess County resident Gary Cowperthwaite, age 64, of Red Hook, was arrested by state police on Friday, March 11, after the department received a tip.
An investigation into the tip determined that Cowperthwaite sexually assaulted a child, Trooper AJ Hicks said.
He was charged with rape and two counts of a criminal sex act, all felonies, Hicks said.

Westchester Man Charged With DWI In Detail
During a Halloween crackdown on impaired drivers, law enforcement agencies in Dutchess County arrested more than two dozen drivers for alleged DWI.
Between Thursday, Oct. 31, and Sunday, Nov. 3, local, county and state police agencies teamed to increase DWI checkpoints and saturation patrols throughout Dutchess.
In total, 26 arrests were made, 25 of which were for impaired driving. The crackdown was the first of eight planned during the holiday season.

Four residents of the Hudson Valley and two from Fairfield County were among 68 people charged during a four-day New York State Police detail that focused on the illegal distribution of controlled substances at the Disc Jam Music Festival in Stephentown, New York, east of Albany.
