Mount Vernon Mayor Conducts Heat Inspections Amid Cold Spell Following the recent cold spell that saw temperatures drop into the teens, Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas has commissioned a task force to conduct heat inspections. Thomas announced this weekend that an inter-agency task force, composed of Police, Fire and Buildings Department representatives would be conducting heat inspections during the current “extreme cold weather event” that has left the Hudson Valley reeling.
