Two Suspects Tracked Down In Westchester Park After Stealing Car, Police Say
Two suspects in their 30s were tracked down by police after being busted in an allegedly stolen car, authorities said. The Westchester County Real Time Crime Center broadcast an alert at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, where there was a report that a car had been stolen and entered Glen Island Park in New Rochelle. A County Police spokesperson said that an officer was able to locate the suspect vehicle - a 2019 Honda - but the driver initially refused to pull over. In another sign that New York is in full recovery mode from the COVID-19 pandemic, the state announced that it will be closing down its drive-through testing site in Westchester, the first hotspot for the virus when the outbreak began. New York State’s first mobile testing center for coronavirus has set up shop and is now open. Gov. Andrew Cuomo was flanked by some of New York's top health officials in New Rochelle on Friday, March 13 to introduce the public to the state’s first “drive-through” COVID-19 testing center. Stranded Pair Pulled From Water After Boat Sinks In Westchester
Two people were rescued from the water off New Rochelle after their boat hit a rock, stranding them in the water. The incident took place around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday near Glen Island Park, said New Rochelle Police Capt. J.C. Coyne. According to Coyne, the two unidentified people had been out boating when they hit a rock and their boat began to sink.
