'Smile, Laugh Were Contagious': Businesswoman, Mom From Bronxville Dies At 43
A businesswoman and mother who was a lifelong New York resident has died at the age of 43.
Kimberly A. Hallenbeck was born in Westchester, lived in Orange County, and worked on Long Island.
Her death, on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, came after a two-year battle with cancer, according to her obituary.
A resident of the town of Newburgh, she was the daughter of the late Francis J. Hallenbeck III and Elizabeth (Burns) Laurie, who was born on July 1, 1980 in Bronxville.
She worked as a loan mortgage originator for Contour Mortgage in Garden City.

A man accused of bilking a New York homebuyer out of tens of thousands of dollars through an email scam has been nabbed by police.
Maryland resident Emeka Ndukwu, age 50, of Lanham in Prince George's County, was arraigned on Long Island on Saturday, Oct. 1, on a felony charge of grand larceny in Nassau County Court..
Working with two other individuals, prosecutors said Ndukwu, who is a dual national of the United States and Nigeria, convinced a Garden City resident to wire a total of $45,000 to a person he believed to be a real estate attorney in October 2021.

New York Man Wins $1 Million Powerball Prize
A Long Island man won a $1 million Powerball prize.
Peter Wishart, of Garden City, claimed the second prize for matching the first five numbers drawn on Saturday, May 28, New York Lottery announced on Wednesday, Aug. 31.
Wishart received his prize as a single, lump-sum payment of $651,000 after required withholdings, NY Lottery said.
The winning numbers drawn were 02 39 50 61 66 Powerball 15, the lottery reported.
The ticket was purchased at Garden City Super Pumper, which is located at 791 Stewart Ave. in Garden City, the lottery said.

The former co-owner and executive at a New York mortgage lender has been sentenced for an $8.9 million fraud scheme, federal authorities announced.
Long Island resident Edward E. Bohm, age 44, of Smithtown, formerly the president of Sales and part-owner of mortgage lender Vanguard Funding, LLC, based in Garden City, was sentenced on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the federal courthouse in Central Islip to two years in prison.
Bohm was also ordered to pay $3,488,615.42 in restitution and $1,500,000 in criminal forfeiture.

Three graduates of the same New York high school, including two brothers, were among the five people killed in a head-on crash in the Hamptons over the weekend.
Police said the crash happened on Saturday, July 24, on Montauk Highway in Suffolk County, near the intersection of Quogue Street East in the Village of Quogue. A westbound Nissan Maxima reportedly drove into oncoming traffic, colliding with an eastbound Toyota Prius.
