Sugar, Sugar: Domino Refinery In Westchester County Lights Up New LED Sign A Domino Sugar Refinery in Westchester County has unveiled a new LED sign that celebrates the city it calls home.  The new sign, located at the Domino Sugar Refinery In Yonkers at 1 Federal St., was lit up for the first time in an event attended by Yonkers city officials on Monday, Nov. 21, according to Olivia DeLuca, a spokeswoman for the refinery.  The 4' by 30' sign that combines the Domino Sugar logo with the city's name pays homage to the iconic "Yonkers" sign on the city's Recreation Pier, DeLuca said. Beloved Longtime High School Teacher In Westchester Dies At Age 69 A Westchester County woman who spent more than 30 years working as a special education teacher at a high school has died at age 69. Mary Jacinta Saffran died unexpectedly at her home in Irvington on Saturday, May 14, according to her obituary. "She was an outstanding and beloved special education teacher at Lincoln High School in Yonkers, NY for 36 years," her obituary reads. "A vivacious lover of life, her passions were traveling, cooking, entertaining, and helping anyone in need." Grace/La Gracia Episcopal Church in White Plains, decided to come up with ways to reach not only its congregation during the pandemic but those in need throughout the community. Covid-19: Free, Drive-Through Food Distributed At Westchester Community College Volunteers took over Westchester Community College this week, hosting a free drive-through food distribution drive for families in need. Feeding Westchester was at the college’s campus in Valhalla for several hours this week handing out bags with a variety of food options for families. Each vehicle that visited the drive-through received a package that would feed a family of four for up to five days. It was limited to Westchester County residents.
