With students returning to class for the new school year, the number of children coming down with COVID-19 is on the rise as overall cases continue to climb due to the Delta variant. In the latest data released by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), children now represent 26.8 percent of new weekly COVID-19 cases nationwide as health officials encourage all eligible parties to get vaccinated against the virus to help curtail the spread of the virus. College Of New Rochelle Files For Bankruptcy
After being forced to shutter its doors earlier this year, the College of New Rochelle has officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and its campus is expected to be sold within the next two months. Following a three-year financial crisis, the 115-year-old college concluded classes on Saturday, Aug. 10. Mercy College is temporarily leasing the campus and will use the facilities through 2020. Coach, Teacher Killed When Car Crashes Into Pole In Hudson Valley
James I. O’Neill High School students and school employees are mourning the loss of a favorite teacher and coach who died Monday in an early morning car crash in the Town of Newburgh. Christopher Page, 27, an English teacher at the Highland Falls school for more than three years, was killed driving his 2015 Dodge Charger north on Route 300 around 6:45 a.m., when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck a utility police, according to Town of Newburgh Lt.
