Police Chief In Westchester Calls It A Career
A police chief in Northern Westchester is calling it a career later this month. City of Peekskill Police Department Chief Don Halmy announced his plan to retire as of Saturday, Sept. 25, after more than 22 years with the department. Man Charged With First-Degree Rape In Westchester
A Northern Westchester man is behind bars after being arrested for rape, New York State Police announced. An investigation by State Police in Cortlandt and the City of Peekskill Police Department led to the arrest of Miguel Pillacela, 38, of Peekskill for first-degree rape, a felony, Capt. John Ryan announced. Ryan said that the investigation by the two law enforcement agencies determined that Pillacela allegedly forcibly raped his victim in the town of Cortlandt. A law enforcement tip led to the arrest of a man who was allegedly driving a stolen car in Northern Westchester, State Police said. New York State Police troopers and the City of Peekskill Police Department received a tip shortly before 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30, regarding a stolen 2020 Acura TL that was stolen out of New York City. A four-page complaint has been filed by the Westchester County District Attorney's office formally charging the police officer from the area who has been accused of stalking, sexually abusing and burglarizing a woman. Police: Man Enters Teenage Girl's Bedroom After Westchester Home Break-In
A man broke into a Northern Westchester home and then entered a teenage girl's bedroom where he requested money, police say. The incident happened on Friday, Jan. 3 at about 2:25 a.m. in Peekskill on Seymour Lane, Responding Peekskill Police officers found Jonathan Martin, a 27-year-old Peekskill resident, inside the living room of the occupied residence, according to Lt. A Northern Westchester man has been charged in connection to the hit-run Route 9W crash that resulted in the death of a 62-year-old man in the area. The crash happened on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at about 8:20 p.m. in Orange County on Route 9W in the Town of Highlands near the United States Military Academy at West Point. A 33-year-old man is behind bars after being charged following a two-week investigation into a burglary at a restaurant and bar in Northern Westchester. State Police troopers responded to Rumba Bar on Oregon Road in the town of Cortlandt on Saturday, Sept. 8 for a report of a burglary.
