A police officer is being recognized for his brave rescue of a dog who had become trapped behind a gate on the third floor of a burning building in Northern Westchester. The rescue happened on Thursday, April 13, when a fire broke out in an apartment building in Ossining on Croton Avenue and a dog named Cujo became trapped on the third floor behind a gate. Fast-Moving Fire Rips Through Building In Westchester
A fast-moving fire that heavily damaged a building is under investigation in Northern Westchester. The fire was discovered around 8:13 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, when the Chappaqua Fire Department was called to the area behind their firehouse for a reported garage fire, the department said. First arriving units, who found flames shooting out of the roof, determined the address to be on Memorial Drive, in a building that had a significant fire in September 2020. 12 Families Displaced In Two-Alarm Westchester Blaze That Causes Metro-North Delays
Ten firefighters were injured and a dozen families displaced when a fire broke out that left two houses in Westchester destroyed and caused Metro-North delays. Crews were dispatched to 781 Warburton Ave. in Yonkers at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, when flames broke out in the first building affected, Deputy Fire Chief Daniel Flynn said.
