Bobcats Sighted At Nature Preserve In Westchester
Although bobcats usually don't like to make their presence known, two of the creatures were captured on camera at a Northern Westchester nature preserve. The two felines were sighted on Thursday morning, Nov. 14 at the Old Field Preserve on Mead Street in the Lewisboro hamlet of Waccabuc, according to the Lewisboro Parks and Recreation Department. A Westchester resident got quite a surprise after seeing two bobcats taking a stroll in his yard. The sighting occurred on Thursday night, May 23 at a home on Wilmoth Avenue in Ardsley, according to a resident of the village. A resident of Northern Westchester received a rare visit from a wild feline. Armonk resident John Dunn sighted a bobcat in his front yard at his home on Byram Brook Place on Sunday, Nov. 27, he said. The sighting is unusual, as bobcats prefer areas without continuous human population centers, according to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). Police agencies are cautioning homeowners to be on alert after bobcats were spotted roaming in the region.
