'Reckless, Improper' Bicycle Riding On Rise In This Westchester Town, Police Say
A police department in Westchester is urging parents to teach their children proper bicycle riding habits following numerous incidents of unsafe and dangerous riding. In an announcement on Friday, Sept. 6, the Town of Harrison Police Department noted an increase in "reckless and improper" bicycle riding throughout the town, including the downtown and West Harrison business districts. Mugshot Released: Suspected NJ Drunk Driver Who Killed NHL Star, Brother
The mugshot was released for the Woodstown man accused of driving drunk, killing an NHL star and his brother. The Salem County Correctional Facility released the mugshot of 43-year-old Sean Higgins to Newsweek. Higgins was charged with two counts of death by auto in the Thursday, Aug. 29 crash that killed Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. Johnny, 31, played for the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Calgary Flames. 13-Year-Old Riding Bicycle Struck, Killed By Vehicle On Residential Roadway In Hudson Valley
Police are investigating a crash in which a boy was killed on a residential roadway in the Hudson Valley. It happened around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 29 in Rockland County. That's when the bicyclist was struck by a vehicle in the village of Pomona at the intersection of High Mountain Road and Overlook Road. AAA is calling on drivers to be more alert, and cyclists and pedestrians to be more aware on the roadways as the number of fatal hit-and-runs spiked to an all-time high. More than one hit-and-run crash occurs every minute on U.S. roads, according to research from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.
