2 Westchester HS Seniors Awarded $2.5K Each From National Program
Two hard-working high school seniors from Northern Westchester have been awarded $2,500 scholarships each as recognition for their impressive academic achievements. Armonk residents Remi Matza and Kelsey Vaquero, both seniors at Byram Hills High School, were awarded the funds after being chosen as finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, school district officials announced on Thursday, May 25. US Presidential Scholar: HS Senior From Westchester Gets Top Honor
A high school senior from Northern Westchester has received one of the nation's highest honors for students. Byram Hills High School senior Samantha Milewicz of Armonk is one of only 161 students nationwide to be selected as a US Presidential Scholar, school district officials announced on Friday, May 12. A beloved sports radio host from Northern Westchester who made numerous appearances on national television and enjoyed a successful career in book publishing is being remembered for his sharp nature and dedication to fulfilling his dreams. Sportscaster, author, editor, and Armonk resident Rick Wolff died on Monday, April 10 at age 71 after a brief battle with brain cancer, his family announced on his blog. Man Threatens To Stab Salon Employee In Westchester
A man with an active arrest warrant is charged with threatening a salon worker in Northern Westchester, police said. On Saturday, March 18, around 2:45 p.m., an employee of a salon located in Armonk at 495 Main St. (Route 125) told North Castle Police that her coworker's ex-boyfriend had threatened to harm her coworker. According to authorities, the man, who had an active arrest warrant, told the complainant's coworker that "today is going to be the day that he stabs her," and that he was in the area of the salon. Stolen Vehicle From Out Of State Found Parked On Westchester County Road: Police
A stolen vehicle from another state was found parked on a Northern Westchester street thanks to a call from an observant resident. On Monday, Dec. 26, around 6 a.m., an Armonk resident told police that a BMW with New Jersey registration was illegally parked on Banksville Road, North Castle Police said. After authorities looked the vehicle up, they realized that it had been stolen from Elizabeth, New Jersey, and confirmed this with Elizabeth's police department. Two vehicles were taken from separate residences in Northern Westchester on the same day, police said.
