Recall Of 11.7M Pounds Of Meat, Poultry: List Released Of NY Schools That Received Products
A preliminary list has been released of schools that received items that were part of a nationwide recall of millions of pounds of meat and poultry products over fears they may be contaminated with Listeria.
The initial recall involving the manufacturer, Bruce Pac, was for 9,986,245 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) products sold at Walmart, Target, Amazon, Trader Joe's, 7-Eleven, Aldi, and other stores. It was announced on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

'We Simply Cannot Compete': Store Closes After 34 Years In Westchester
After more than three decades in business, a Northern Westchester store has decided to bow out amid changing times.
Wondrous Things, a gift shop located in Briarcliff Manor at 1159 Pleasantville Rd., announced on Wednesday, Oct. 4 that it would soon be permanently closing after 34 years.
Although the store did not specify a closing date, a closing sale will begin on Thursday, Oct. 5, the owners said.
In their closing announcement, the owners said that they were unable to keep up with the modern state of retail.

Amazon Plans To Lay Off Around 10,000 Employees, Report Says
A week before the holiday shopping season officially kicks off, Amazon is set to begin laying off approximately 10,000 corporate and technology employees, The New York Times reports.
Job cuts at the online retail giant were expected to start the week of Monday, Nov. 14, and will primarily affect Amazon’s retail, devices, and human resources divisions, according to the outlet.
The largest in its history, the layoffs would impact 1 percent of the company’s global workforce and 3 percent of its corporate employees.

The richest people in America are revealed in a new Forbes 400 ranking, which includes over a dozen New Yorkers.
To come up with its 41st annual list of the 400 wealthiest Americans, the outlet consulted with a variety of sources, including financial advisors, Securities and Exchange Commission documents, court filings, attorneys, and news articles.

Thousands Of Beds Recalled Due To Serious Impact, Crush Hazards
About 8,200 beds have been recalled after more than 60 reports of injuries caused by beds falling or breaking.
On Thursday, Sept. 8, full-sized and queen-sized Murphy beds sold online under the brand names “Ivy Bronx,” “Orren Ellis,” “Stellar Home Furniture,” and “Wade Logan" were recalled by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
According to the announcement, the beds can break or detach from the wall and fall onto people, posing serious impact and crush hazards.
