Yorizzo, Anello send Eastchester to softball win

WARWICK, N.Y. -- Eastchester combined timely hitting with solid pitching and excellent defense to secure a 4-2 win over Cornwall in a Section 4 Little League Softball 9-10-year-old losers’ bracket game, Friday, at Warwick Little League.

Eastchester will play South Orangetown, Saturday, 10:30 a.m. Eastchester lost to South Orangetown, 4-0, in their first game of the tournament.

Olivia Yorizzo (two innings) and Ashley Anello (four innings) combined on the victory. Nicole Calabro, Anello and Yorizzo also produced key hits as Eastchester scored twice in the third inning to take a 4-2 lead.

“Our defense was awesome, with excellent plays by third baseman Ashley Graham, shortstop Carson DeLasho, and second basemen Madi Piro and Giuliana Fogliano,” Eastchester coach Ken Graham said.
