Tuckahoe's Williams Takes Basketball To Manhattan

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. -- Sky Williams, the all-time leading scorer in Tuckahoe High School basketball history, will attend Manhattan College in the fall as a preferred walk-on with hopes of earning a full scholarship.

"I'm very excited to be playing here [New York City]," said Williams, who graduated from Tuckahoe High in June. "All my friends and family and fans are here. I'm used to the area and if you make it in New York, that's big."

Williams, who was a prolific scorer throughout his high school career, capped off his time at Tuckahoe by averaging 27.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.8 steals per game to help lead the Tigers to a perfect 25-0 season and the New York State Public Schools Class C championship in March. He scored more than 1,500 points in his career.

Manhattan was one of several Division I colleges chasing Williams, but the 6-2 shooting guard liked the idea of being home in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference where he will play against Iona College and several other Northeast schools.

"Playing at a Division I college is exactly what I wanted," Williams said. "Manhattan really wanted me."

Williams attended basketball camps at Manhattan as a young player and lived with his family in the Riverdale section of the Bronx before moving to Tuckahoe.
