TUCKAHOE, N.Y. The 2-year-old Children Understanding Cultural Differences basketball program will hold tryouts from Tuesday, Sept. 25, through Oct. 9 and will add girls teams to the roster this year.
CUCD founder Donald Gunther, who organized the club to bring children from Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe together to play recreation basketball, said the club will add to the boys teams as the program grows.
"We are seeking to put together a diverse fifth-grade girls team as well as the boys teams this year," Gunther said.
Tryouts for fifth-grade girls and seventh-grade boys will be held on Sept. 25; sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade boys will try out on Oct. 2, and eighth-grade boys only will try out on Oct. 9. All tryouts will be held at the Tuckahoe Community Center, 71 Columbus Ave., from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
