Gallo Handles Seward to Lift Tigers in Class C

Pitching is tough enough, especially in big playoff games with all the pressure of having the ball in hand and the game on the line.

L.J. Gallo grabbed the opportunity to pitch in the big game and more Monday, striking out 12 batters and allowing one run over seven innings, while also driving in the winning run in the last inning to give Section 1 champion Tuckahoe a 2-1 victory over S.S. Seward of Section 9 in the Class C state regionals in Middletown.

Gallo put an exclamation point on the victory by throwing out a Seward runner trying to steal home for the final out.

Seward led 1-0 after three innings when Justin Rosas’ RBI tied the game for Tuckahoe.

The Tigers advanced to the regional final where they will meet Section 11 champion McGann-Mercy at St, Joseph’s College in Patchogue, Long Island.
