In total, $316,510 has been raised by the public through a series of fundraisers, with the Eastchester Board of Education approving the final $12,000 in funding to reach the $350,000 goal.
With the goal met, the board has approved the district’s architects to begin the required approval process with the New York State Education Department.
More than $40,000 has been raised this month. The project has been bolstered by a $90,000 grant from the Eastchester Youth Soccer organization. Large donations have also come from an NFL grant ($25,000), local government, ($20,000), the Eastchester Sports Club ($18,500) and several alumni groups, with an estimated $15,000 in deferred money coming from events scheduled for September.
The Sports Club is still accepting donations, with special recognition for “gold” ($1,000), “silver” $500 and bronze “$250” level donors, who can have their names engraved on plaques that will honor them as major donors to the “Buy a Seat” campaign.
As of June 12, the “Buy a Seat” campaign has more than 100 donors, who contributed a total of $54,000 toward the bleachers project.
“We are proud of the work that has been done, and we are thrilled with the support of all our donors,” volunteers with the fundraising effort said in a joint statement. “The ‘Buy a Seat’ effort from within the community showed the tremendous spirit commitment and strength of the Eastchester citizens to get us to our goal.”
