Woman, 30, Charged With DWI After Series Of I-95 Traffic Violations

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - A woman from the Bronx was arrested in New Rochelle over the weekend after being stopped on I-95 for multiple traffic violations, when she was found to be driving under the influence.

According to New York State Police, shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Friday, March 11 on the interstate, Stephanie Ortiz, 30, was found to be intoxicated after state police stopped her for a series of violations on the busy roadway.

Upon approaching her vehicles, responding officers found her to be intoxicated and she was transported and processed at New Rochelle Police Headquarters, where it was determined she had a blood alcohol content of .21 percent - nearly triple the legal limit in New York.

Ortiz was charged with a misdemeanor charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated and released to a sober third party on her own recognizance. She is due back in New Rochelle City Court on Wednesday, March 16.
