On Thursday, Westchester County District Attorney announced that Jenkins, 33, may still face life behind bars after he pleaded guilty to felony counts of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon after he deliberately shot his 47-year-old co-worker Richard Brown.

Jenkins was formerly a licensed security guard supervisor for the company that protects the Levister Towers apartment complex in Mount Vernon. Shortly after 3:30 a.m. on July 21 last summer, he approached Brown, who was in the security guard booth at the complex. Jenkins then allegedly fired three shots through the Plexiglas window that would prove to be fatal.

Brown, who had only been employed by the security company for 10 days, had had a pair of altercations with Jenkins, including one the day before he was killed, according to the DiFiore's office. The Mount Vernon Police Department initiated an investigation and quickly arrested Jenkins.

Assistant District Attorney Perry Perrone, the Chief of the Homicide Bureau, prosecuted the case.
