Antonio Nurzia, 85, Eastchester Resident

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Antonio Nurzia, a longtime resident of Eastchester, died Sunday, Jan. 17. He was 85.

He was born in Arischia, Abruzzo, Italy, to Pietro and Emma (Taranta) Nurzia. He immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 21. He worked for Heritage Plumbing and was a member of the Plumbers Union Local 86.

He is survived by his wife, Antonina Nurzia; his daughter, Rita Williams (Kenneth) and his son, Peter Nurzia (Mary); siblings Gina DeSimone, Amalia Ciano, Ada Zaccagno, Amico Nurzia, Angelo Nurzia and Pierina Commisso; and three grandchildren, Christian A., Bethany and Lauren Nurzia.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Westchester Funeral Home, Inc., 190 Main St., Eastchester. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Assumption Church, Tuckahoe. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Mausoleum, Hartsdale.
