The licensed esthetician and business owner from Massapequa has spent years helping others feel beautiful through her work at BD Esthetics. But now, she’s the one in need of support as she battles Stage 4 breast cancer, just months after marrying the love of her life, NYPD officer Justin Senese.
Her diagnosis, which came just before Thanksgiving 2024, revealed that the cancer had already spread to her lung. She began intense chemotherapy treatments at the start of the year, forcing her to step back from her thriving business—a heartbreaking challenge for someone known for her dedication and resilience.
A Fighter with a Heart of Gold
Darielle is no stranger to selflessness. In 2014, she made the incredible decision to donate a kidney to her brother, saving his life without hesitation. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering spirit are what friends and family say make her truly special.
“She has always gone above and beyond for those around her,” wrote family friend Matias Ferreira, who launched a GoFundMe campaign to help ease the financial burden of medical expenses and lost income.
A Sense of Humor Through It All
Despite the challenges, Darielle remains unapologetically herself, facing cancer with a mix of grit and humor.
“Being diagnosed before Thanksgiving with Stage 4 breast cancer that began to spread into my lung definitely wasn’t on my agenda going into 2025, but here we are,” she wrote in a January Facebook post. “This next chapter will be dedicated to healing and kicking cancer’s ass.”
She has been documenting her journey on Instagram, sharing raw and real moments—like a video of her husband spoon-feeding her yogurt when she was too weak to do it herself.
“Find you a man who spoon-feeds you yogurt when you can’t do it yourself,” she captioned the post. “In sickness and in health.”
And as for the side effects of chemotherapy? She’s embracing them with style: “If you see me eventually popping up in different colored wigs, mind ya damn business. A girl’s gotta have some fun.”
How to Help
Darielle’s clients, loved ones, and supporters are rallying to help her focus on healing without the added stress of finances. The GoFundMe campaign had raised $36,480 as of Tuesday, March 4. Click here to donate.
