White Plains Hospital Presents Pancreatic Cancer Forum

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - White Plains Hospital will present an awareness forum on pancreatic cancer on Friday, Nov. 22 at 11:30 a.m. at Gilda’s Club in White Plains. 

The forum, called “Focus on Early Detection and Improved Survival”, is in partnership with the Lustgarten Foundation, an advocacy organization dedicated to advancing the scientific and medical research related to the diagnosis, treatment, cure and prevention of pancreatic cancer, and will feature brief presentations from several medical experts including Charles Noyer, M.D. of Larchmont, gastroenterologist with White Plains Hospital, and Joshua Raff, M.D. of Scarsdale, Chief of Hematology /Oncology at White Plains Hospital, as well as specialists in radiology, pathology, genetics, hematology & oncology, surgical oncology, nutrition and radiation oncology.

Pancreatic cancer is widely considered to be one of the most deadly cancers and one of the most frustrating to treat.  The average person has a one in 68 lifetime risk of developing the disease, and survival rates five years after diagnosis are only 6%, according to the Lustgarten Foundation. 

The forum will provide valuable information on risk factors, familial predisposition, screening and testing, medical and surgical approaches and advances in research.  It will take place at Gilda’s Club of Westchester, located at 80 Maple Ave. in White Plains from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Lunch will be provided free of charge and parking is available across the street in the municipal lot.  Advance registration is preferred.
