What's Happening in Eastchester This Week

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – School elections highlight this week's activities in Eastchester, Bronxville and Tuckahoe, but there's a lot happening, including a couple of Oscar-nominated films at the Eastchester Public Library and a new theater company making its debut. Monday, May 14

Bronxville Public Hearing: 8 p.m., The Bronxville Village Board will hold a public hearing regarding changes to parking meter fees. Village Hall, 200 Pondfield Road, Bronxville. 

Tuesday, May 15

Bronxville school election: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Vote on the 2012-2013 school budget and choose among four candidates for two school board seats. The Bronxville School, 177 Pondfield Road.

Eastchester school election: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Vote on the 2012-13 school budget and three uncontested Board of Education seats. Eastchester Middle School (enter from Lincoln Avenue) and Garth Road Community Center, 235 Garth Road (Garth Road residents only), Eastchester.

Tuckahoe school election: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Vote on the 2012-13 school budget and one uncontested Board of Education seat. Tuckahoe Community Center, 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe; William E. Cottle Auditorium Foyer, 2 Siwanoy Blvd., Eastchester; and Chester Heights Firehouse, 10 Oregon Ave., Bronxville.

Eastchester Library Film Series: 1 p.m. The library will screen "The Iron Lady," starring Meryl Streep as former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Eastchester Public Library, 11 Oakbridge Place, Eastchester.

Sign and Awning Board: 2:30 p.m. The Tuckahoe Village Sign and Awning Board will meet to consider applications from Tuckahoe Paint & Glass, 29 Columbus Ave., and Café 72, 72 Main St. Tuckahoe Village Hall, 60 Main St., Tuckahoe.

Planning board: 7:30 p.m. The Tuckahoe Village Planning Board will meet to consider its agenda. Tuckahoe Village Hall, 60 Main St., Tuckahoe.

Housing authority: 7:30 p.m. Tuckahoe Housing Authority monthly meeting to review financials, projects and progress. Housing Authority conference room, 4 Union Place, Suite 1, Tuckahoe.

School board meeting: 7:30 p.m. Tuckahoe Board of Education meets to accept the results of the budget and school board election. Tuckahoe Middle School/High School library, 65 Siwanoy Blvd., Eastchester.

Town Board Meeting: 8 p.m. The Eastchester Town Board holds its regular meeting to consider its agenda. Town Hall, 40 Mill Road, Eastchester.

Thursday, May 17

Recreation advisory board: 7:30 p.m. The Eastchester Recreation Advisory Board will meet in the Comptroller's Conference Room. Town Hall, 40 Mill Road, Eastchester.

Friday, May 18

Eastchester Library Film Series: 1 p.m. The library will screen Steven Spielberg's "War Horse." Eastchester Public Library, 11 Oakbridge Place, Eastchester.

Tibi Confidas Theatre Troupe debut: 8 p.m. The area's newest theater troupe makes its debut with "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)." The show continues May 19-20 and May 25-26, with performances at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $20 adults, $15 students and seniors.
