The tradition brings together boys and men of the church and surrounding communities. The breakfast is at 9 a.m. and is open to all boys and men in the community. Radio personality and motivational speaker Bob Lee will be the featured speaker at the breakfast.
For most of the men of Shiloh Baptist Church, the February ritual has been going on all of their lives, representatives said.
“I’ve attended for the past 20 years,” says Larry Woodard, chair of the Deacon Ministry at Shiloh. “It is one of the strongest community fellowships I’ve ever witnessed. It really brings the community together.”
The fellowship is more than 50 years old.
“Shiloh has always been a leader in building community and it has built a sturdy bridge to the African-American community in Tuckahoe. My father attended every breakfast until he passed away a few years ago and I try never to miss it,” said Vito Pinto, director of the Westchester Veterans Service Agency.
Tickets are $15 for men and $10 for boys age 10 and under. Tickets may be obtained by calling the church at 914-961-2664. Shiloh Baptist Church is at 15 Marble Place in Tuckahoe.
