Tuckahoe Kills One Parking Fee, Hikes Others

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – Parking in Tuckahoe is about to become more expensive for everyone except Tuckahoe residents.

The Village Board of Trustees approved two resolutions dealing with parking permits at its Monday meeting. One resolution will eliminate the annual $10 street parking permit for residents.

"Residents are already paying taxes," said Mayor Steve Ecklond. "They shouldn't have to pay again to park their cars."

The other resolution increased annual parking fees at village parking lots for everyone except Tuckahoe merchants. Tuckahoe residents will pay $800, a $50 increase. Eastchester and Bronxville residents will pay $1,350, up from $1,260, and non-residents will pay $1,500, up from $1,365. Parking at the Lake, Thompson and Fisher lots will increase to $1,500 for everyone, a $135 increase.

All changes are scheduled to take affect June 1.
