Grammy Nominee To Teach Flute Class In Eastchester

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Two-time Grammy nominee Tara Helen O’Connor will be the special guest in Eastchester at the Music and Arts’ Day of Flute this weekend.

The flute virtuoso will teach a master class for flute players of all skill levels. The day will include an expanded selection of flutes, a repair clinic and will provide advice for warm-up exercise techniques.

O’Connor is the recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant award and received a pair of Grammy nominations in 2003 for Osvaldo Golijov’s recording entitled “Yiddishbbuk.” She has performed around the world and is currently an instructor at Purchase College.

Music and Arts is one of the largest music school companies in the nation. It is based in Maryland, but has more than 100 locations spread throughout the country.

The Day of Flute will be held from 12 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Crestwood Music Education Center on White Plains Road. It is free and open to the public.
