MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- The water main on Route 22 in Eastchester that broke Jan. 13 has been replaced and is now in service, said David Birdsall, business director of the Westchester Joint Water Works (WJWW).
The 30-inch water main services Mamaroneck and Larchmont. The break sent a flood of water 6 inches deep down Hilldale and White Plains Roads along Route 22, and left some in Mamaroneck and Larchmont without water for a few hours.
On Jan. 13, WJWW crews re-routed portions of the system and restored service to everyone by the end of the day, according to Anthony Conetta, manager of the WJWW.
Water flow through the new main was restored late in the day April 5.
"The WJWW system is now operating normally again with water flowing through the repaired line to Mamaroneck and Larchmont," Birdsall said.
