According to reports, the New York City Medical Examiner has identified the remains of Jeffrey Walz, a New York Fire Department firefighter and Tuckahoe resident.
Walz’s remains were recovered in May 2002, but were only identified after being retested, officials said. They will be sent to his gravesite in Staten Island.
The 37-year-old firefighter and father was an engineer before following in his own father’s footsteps and becoming a firefighter in 1992. He died in the North Tower, leaving his wife, Rani and son, Bradley. Walz was posthumously promoted to lieutenant.
