EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Still-life paintings and photographs by Eastchester High School art students will be exhibited at the jazz band concert on Thursday in the middle school cafeteria.
Dorothy Johnson’s advanced art studio students and Rachel Sydlowski's portfolio prep students studied with painter Leah Lopez to compose observational still-life oil paintings.
Lopez urged students to focus on achieving the illusion of objects in space and to utilize a variety of surface textures in oil paint. As an extension of the experience, Patrick Perry's students photographed the still-life arrangements using digital photography.
This exhibit is for one night only. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The concert starts at 7 p.m. There will be light food served and beverages available for purchase from the Eastchester Music Boosters.
For further information about the event, call the school at 914-793-6130.
Eastchester High School is at 2 Stewart Place.
