WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A golf outing raised more than $7,000 for Alzheimer’s disease research at the Burke Rehabilitation Center in White Plains.
The fundraiser hosted by Ron Blacks Beer Hall was held at the at the Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester. More than 50 golfers participated in the event.
The money will fund Burke’s new study on the therapeutic use of benfotiamine in Alzheimer’s disease treatment.
According to an About Health.com article by Alternative Medicine Expert Cathy Wong, a study published in Brain showed that benfotiamine tested on mice improved cognitive function and fought amyloid plaque, which is linked to the development of Alzheimer's disease.
