SCARSDALE, N.Y. – The Westchester Reform Temple in Scarsdale is continuing its monthly “Engaging Israel: Foundations for a New Relationship” series and is inviting local members of the community to an interactive discussion.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, the discuss will be  “Religion and Peoplehood,” with the intention of making the audience question how Judaism can be defined as a personal experience, and how being of the Jewish faith contributes to the meaning of contemporary Jewish life.

The series was spawned at the temple by growing feelings of disenchantment and disinterest toward Israel among Jewish people around the world. Each session features a lecture from Rabbi Donniel Hartman, with discussions among experts including Tal Becker, Tossi Klein-Halevi, Rabbi Rachel Sabath Beit-Halachmi and professor Gil Troy.

There will be other screenings and discussions on Dec. 19, as participants explore sovereignty and identity; Jan. 23, when power and powerlessness will be addressed; and Feb. 27, with a discussion on war and occupation.
