Nearly 900 runners and walkers showed up to Eastchester Town Hall on Sunday morning for the second annual Eastchester 5K, with proceeds going to benefit the Eastchester Public Library.
The participants enjoyed pristine weather conditions, with awards going to the top male and female finishers in seven different age groups, from 12-years-old and under to 60 and older.
A pair of Eastchester high school students took top honors, with Fordham Prep senior Marc Guberti finishing first overall, and Eastchester High School sophomore Heather Joyce-Caliendo becoming the first female to cross the finish line.
At the end of the day, when all of the runners and walkers had finished, Eastchester Public Library Director Tracy Wright accepted a ceremonial $15,000 check from John Collins, the president of the Eastchester Irish American Social Club, one of the primary sponsors of the 5K.
