There will be a series of events, safety-inspired giveaways and a brand new bicycle raffle. The goal of the day is to promote positive relationships between the youth in the community and police officers.
Community Day kicks off from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 8 with “Safe Riders Day,” where children can ride the streets in a safe, protected environment. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a “Child Safety Seat Event,” that will provide safety tips for children and parents.
Both cops and kids will take to the field starting at 12:45 p.m. for a pair of athletic events. First, the Cops for Kids Kickball Game will take place, followed by the Cops For Kids Softball game at 2 p.m.
In addition to the events, there will be a bicycle helmet giveaway, as well as bicycle inspections and a repair station. Cyclists can register their bikes and there will be safety and obstacle courses.
T-shirts will be given to participants of the games, along with refreshments. All events will take place at the Parkway Oval near Bronx Street and Consulate Drive in the village.
