VALHALLA, N.Y. -- Valhalla resident Daniel Seth Lubiner is about to see a dream he's had since 1996 come to fruition.

On Saturday, Feb. 6, his independently made sitcom pilot, which he wrote and directed, will have its premiere at Huckleberry Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. (Click HERE for the trailer.)

"Stand-Up Neurotica" claims to "redefine the sitcom," explained Lubiner. He said it's about a neurotic guy named Seth who manages a comedy club in New York City while dealing with his lesbian ex-wife, a colorful staff of characters and new, often dysfunctional comedians guest-starring and performing each week. "I wanted to take the best aspects of classic sitcoms like 'Taxi,' 'Cheers,' 'Seinfeld,' and 'Friends, 'add an edge of 'adult content' and create the next hit TV show," he said.

A longtime special education teacher of emotionally-challenged students in the Bronx, Lubiner said, for as long he can remember, he's held onto his dream: to someday be a writer, director, and actor in his own film or TV production.

This past summer, he had his first ever "summer off." Using money he raised with crowdfunding, he produced the pilot. The script, incidentally, was something he'd been working on since 1996.

"I picked it up and put it down many times," he said. "And changed it a lot. " He shot the whole thing in two days the first week in August and has been editing ever since. He says he has a very small part in it, as does his son, Max, 17.

He continues to work on raising money for the project, which took many hours and required being super persistent. "I ran seven campaigns, three of which were a success," he said. "In fact... It's not too late! We're still hoping to get more for post-production, the many distribution and festival fees. And we offer some great perks like bumper stickers, signed scripts, T-shirts even getting producer status!" Go HERE for information.

Lubiner is hoping folks like what he's put his heart into. No matter what, though, he has no plans to quit his day job. Said the dedicated teacher: "I just love working with these kids so much."
