Born at only 25 weeks last April, Tamaya Berry weighed just 9 ounces when she arrived at the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a Member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network and the children’s hospital for the Hudson Valley and Fairfield County.
Tamaya spent six months at the hospital, overcoming the many challenges due to her low birthweight and extreme prematurity. Eventually, Tamaya graduated from the Regional NICU in October 2015, weighing 7 pounds, 12 ounces. To mark Tamaya’s milestone first birthday and to celebrate her perseverance, the staff of Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital’s Regional NICU hosted a birthday party for Tamaya and her family.
