What's Happening Around Eastchester This Week

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – A variety of events are scheduled around Eastchester and Tuckahoe this week. The Westchester Italian Cultural Center will begin several classes, and schools will be closed on Wednesday in celebration of Yom Kippur. Monday, Sept. 24 

Book Club: 6:30 p.m. The Tuckahoe Public Library is hosting its book club meeting at the library. 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.

SARG Fitness Women’s Boot Camp: 8 p.m. This class delivers one hour of high-intensity fun and motivating exercise to help women get and stay in shape. Participants perform cardio and strength training in a team environment. $18. 480 New Rochelle Road, Bronxville. 

Tuesday, Sept. 25

Childbirth Class: 7:30 p.m. Lawrence Hospital is offering childbirth classes for expectant parents. Parents can attend class on three consecutive Tuesdays, or complete the entire session on a single Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The class costs $200 per couple. 55 Palmer Ave., Bronxville. 

Language Classes for Adults: Learn to speak Italian at the Westchester Italian Cultural Center. From 9:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., instructor Leslie Poole Petit will concentrate on active communication in Italian. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., classes will focus on increasing vocabulary and language comprehension. From 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., students will learn everyday communication skills. $375 for 10 classes. 24 Depot Square, Tuckahoe.

Wednesday, Sept. 26

Yom Kippur: Schools are closed. 

Evening Language Classes for Adults: 6:30 p.m. Learn to speak Italian at the Westchester Italian Cultural Center. Instructors Leslie Poole Petit, Cathy Blanco and Almira Bubesi will concentrate on active communication in Italian, increasing vocabulary and everyday communication skills. $375 for 10 classes. 24 Depot Square, Tuckahoe.

Thursday, Sept. 27

“Mommy and Me” Italian Class: 10:30 a.m. Teachers will engage children by immersing them in the Italian language through age-appropriate activities. Designed for children ages 1-3. $200. 24 Depot Square, Tuckahoe.

Benefit for Robert Astorino: 6:30 p.m. Program Reach will host its annual cocktail dinner to honor Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino. $200 per person or $375 per couple. 1 Wasylenko Lane, Yonkers.

Wine Workshop: 6:30 p.m. Melissa Prospero, owner of Prospero Wine in Pleasantville, will take an in-depth look at the art of making wine at home. She will discuss techniques, supplies, products and equipment needed to make wine. $35. 24 Depot Square, Tuckahoe. 

Open House: 7 p.m. Eastchester High School will host its open house. 580 White Plains Road, Eastchester.
