Pre-registration for the race will close on Sept. 7 and the runners will take their mark promptly at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 8. The Challenge will include a one-mile race for short distance runners and a five-mile event for runners looking for a longer race.
All races will kick off at the Tuckahoe Community Center. The one-mile event starts at 9 a.m., featuring a mostly flat course. The longer race begins 30 minutes later on a course that includes a few rolling hills between the second and fourth miles.
The Hudson Valley Bank is again the primary sponsor, in cooperation with the Village of Tuckahoe. Prizes and awards will be presented to the top participants, and there will be raffles for all competitors.
Proceeds from the Tuckahoe Challenge Road Race will be split between the Tuckahoe Senior Center, Tuckahoe Beautification, the Eastchester Community Action Programs and the Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Registration forms are available at Tuckahoe Village Hall and on the village website. Pre-registration prices vary from $10 – one race for children and seniors – to $25 – for those doing “The Challenge” and will run both races. Prices will go up an additional $5 for runners who register on the day of the race.
