TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – One year ago, the ANDRUS Early Learning Center opened its doors to students, providing families in Tuckahoe, Bronxville, Eastchester and Yonkers with unmatched childcare resources.

The 16,000-square-foot facility, located in Tuckahoe Village Hall, provides full and half-day care and early childhood education for nearly 125 infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

The school also hosts ANDRUS family programs, a different approach at educational services for children and families. CEO Nancy Ment said ANDRUS accepts children as young as six weeks old.

“As the AELC approaches its first year anniversary, we are proud that with our new space, the Center can triple its enrollment to 123 children,” she said. “The AELC provides a broad early childhood curriculum that includes reading readiness, social skills and play times.”

ANDRUS offers an array of educational and recreational opportunities. Within the building, there are indoor and outdoor play areas, as well as Westchester County’s first lending Toy Library.

The Carter Arts Wing - a space dedicated solely to the arts – has a light-filled studio and theater, where children can begin to develop an early connection to the arts. There are frequent guest instructors that host special workshops and programs.

“The Early Learning Center is growing and the outlook for our future is amazing,” Vidia Cordero, the director for ANDRUS said. “We are happy to be a resource for the entire community. All of the generous support we have received from the community has helped greatly with our success.”
