Putnam County Sheriff Deputy Shane Rossiter was on patrol at approximately 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20 near the intersection of Route 6 and Simpson Road in Carmel when he pulled over a 2008 Dodge Charger for an expired inspection on his vehicle. Man Charged With Assaulting Taxi Driver With Knife In Brewster A 43-year-old man is behind bars after state police from the Brewster barracks say he assaulted a taxi driver with a knife. Troopers received a call from the taxi driver that he had been assaulted by a customer with a knife on Sunday, Feb. 11, at approximately 2:45 a.m.  Investigation determined that the victim was driving the suspect, Manuel Estabon of Brewster, to the bank to obtain payment for the taxi services. An alert was issued this week for Waterbury, Conn. resident Jose Rosado, who was busted by troopers last October driving 115 mph in the wrong direction on the interstate during a late-night joyride.
