Five Cats Killed In Cortlandt House Fire Five cats were killed in a Northern Westchester house fire that is believed to have started in the kitchen, according to firefighters. Croton-on-Hudson Volunteer Fire Department was called to a house fire on Maple Street around 3:30 p.m. Monday and found the house in flames, with no one at home, the department said. Due to a coordinated, aggressive interior fire attack, the fire was held to the kitchen and a second-floor room, and the neighboring house was saved but did sustain some damage from the radiant heat, the department said.
