Wind Surfers off Croton Water Have Perfect Day

Most sailboats in Croton were tightly battened down during the sunny, windswept and warm Wednesday afternoon, but that didn't stop a half-dozen intrepid wind surfers from coming out to challenge the Hudson.

Senasqua Park is a major windsurfing destination in Westchester, and the strong winds off the Hudson River routinely bring out windsurfers and kitesurfers, who launch from Croton Point Park or out of Senasqua Park. Windsurfing permits are required to enter the water off Senasqua Park.

Permits are $58 for village residents and $69 for non-residents. Permits must be obtained through the Croton-on-Hudson Recreation Department. Senasqua Park is located on the Hudson River. From Route 9 northbound, take the Senasqua exit, and turn left off the exit. Take a right into the park after approximately a half-mile drive.
