Phil Siegel reached a milestone and then walked away with a wrestling title, Saturday.
The Hen Hud senior registered his 100th varsity win to open the day, then went on to win the 160-pound title int the annual Jerry McGuire Wrestling Tournament at North Rockland.
Siegel, the 2010 Section 1 Division I 152-pound runner-up, is closing in on the program record of 116 victories, held by Sean Brophy.
"Coming into the season, I knew 100 would come, but I remained focused on wrestling my matches," Siegel said. "I have been wrestling on varsity since eighth grade and 100 wins was one of my goals. Getting my 100th win and winning the tournament was special."
Siegel defeated Nanuets Mike Buhlman in the semifinals then recorded a technical fall over North Rocklands Dan Mackey in the final. Overall, Siegel went 5-0 on the tournament.
Sean Barry won the 285-pound title with an 8-3 decision over Seafords James OHagan and Kevin McDermott was the 138-pound runner-up.
"Sean has been looking real good and Kevin has improved a lot from last year," Siegel said.
